"who's down with G-O-D?"

This line taken from the movie "Saved!", is just one of the many things that had me shaking my head, pondering how similar (and different) my own educational upbringing was. I just saw this movie tonight after months of anticipation and while I liked it and thought it was good, i was wanting it to be a little bolder and a little more hard / cunning than it actually was. I think the previews make it look like "whoa...it's going to offend!" but in reality, it's mostly tame...as long as your faith can withstand a hollywood film taking some hard shots at it at least. Every character was great though and the performances were strong, all around...despite the weighty cast of character actors. I'd recommend seeing it, if nothing else, b/c it deals so openly with faith in Jesus. It kills me the way hollywood is so timely when it comes to putting out films...they always seem to be one step ahead of the game of life and here, they know Christianity and have many suggestions of how it can "get better." See it and tell me what you think. Good night. :)

I liked it. It was fun, but kind of flat and REALLY chaotic at the end. Check out my comments.

I liked it a lot, too. Felt a little typical teen-comedy at the end, but it was good. I think Bible studies should see it together. I LOVED when Jena Malone picked up the Bible and said, "This isn't a weapon, you idiot!" --Liz

Megan, i read your thoughts and agree with you on some of them. However, I think the director was more so wanting to get people to think and talk about what is really a better solution, so liked it how it didn't get too preachy in the end. And yes, to both you and Liz, the end was a little chaotic and felt like it was going to fall apart. I loved that part too Liz, and I loved the caracters. I could picture myself and tons of other people as each person was portrayed in some weird way. The movie took them to the extremes, but sometimes I think we need to see the extremes before we step back and ask harder questions ourselves, you know? Glad you both saw it though. I wish I could talk to you both in person about it....AHH blogs...they're fun but not so much fun in this case.

I loved that line, too, Liz! Groups of Christians should definitely see it. I just hope that non-Christians understand some of the nuances that we appreciated. Good point, Nev, although I'm not sure how people can reach that solution. I think the church is too lazy to really do anything about it. I could be wrong... I hope I'm wrong.
